Cryptopia

A multi-year decentralized MMOCRPG project

Cryptopia was a major effort developed over more than 6 years to explore a fully decentralized MMOCRPG and blockchain game with real asset ownership, integrated onboarding, and cross-platform client builds.

Development status

Active development is no longer continuing. The work remains available here for reference, transparency, and preservation, with links to available builds and public repositories.

The project combined game client development, smart contracts, token and NFT systems, onboarding infrastructure, and supporting documentation into a broad technical effort.

What was built

The project spanned a Unity game client, multi-chain contracts, an in-game economy, and supporting network infrastructure.

Tile-based world map with day and night states
In-tile 3D scenes with dynamic player and animal movement
Character and avatar builder
Crafting, blueprints, and inventory systems
Ship battles, faction special attacks, and torpedo NFTs

Tutorial flow, settings menu, and minimap navigation
Four gameplay tracks: adventure, tycoon, pirates, and bounty hunters

In-game labour market for construction and factory work
Marketplace with auctions and competitive bidding
Tax and treasury mechanism funding quests and rewards
Staking for governance, courts, and oracle verification
Guilds operating as DAOs with their own governance tokens
Membership tiers, social posts, and in-game advertising space
