Please tell us a bit about your background.

I’m a game developer. The reason I got into game development was that ever since I was a very young kid, I started playing different kinds of video games and just playing around and experimenting with them, and I enjoyed playing them so much. So I thought to myself, why not make them? I started teaching myself to program around 2015 or so, and after I graduated high school and got into college. I came on board with Cryptopia around June, and ever since then I've been doing a bunch of different systems and doing a bunch of fun stuff.

What's a game that really influenced you?

The game that did that for me was Pokémon. The first one I ever played was Pokémon Diamond, and then the second one was Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team. Both of those together just made me hooked on video games. So around 2015, when I was a little bit older, I started thinking, hey, I want to learn programming to make some games.

If there was a dream job that you could have with any gaming company, what would it be?

I would say the dream job for me is just somewhere where the people are nice, the work is fun and it's a good work environment, which, so far, I'm really enjoying here. I would say this is pretty close to a dream job.

If there was a type of food that you could eat every day, what would it be?

Definitely fried chicken. Southern fried, with Buffalo sauce.

How did you get to be part of the team?

Well, I still was in school at the time and I wanted to kind of push myself to be able to start something before graduation. So not only would I be able to learn and expand my toolset, but I could start to get to know people and start to get work experience. Eventually, I found the Cryptopia team. I read up on your page and I was like, oh this sounds fun. So I sent an application and here we are.

Could you help new players by describing Cryptopia in a nutshell?

From what I have known so far, the best way that you could play this game to have fun is to do all the different things. There are so many different systems and mini-games and all that kind of stuff. If you ever get a little bit tired of one thing, there's plenty of other stuff to do and have fun with.

Exactly how big is the map of Cryptopia?

There are going to be multiple maps, it's not just going to be one. They could be very, very small, or they could be very, very huge. It all depends on the current map that you're on.

What faction do you prefer and why?

Yeah, I am part of the industrial faction myself. I picked that faction because the name “industrial”—striving for innovation and all—was very inspiring. Also because their color is red, which is my favorite color.

Blockchain games are getting fairly common nowadays. In your view, how does Cryptopia set itself apart from these other games?

What sets it apart is not only is it using the blockchain, it's using it for decentralized exchange. You don't need to connect to a server. You can just hop on the game and play. And there are so many different things that you can do with the blockchain, with NFTs and stuff like that. You'll have a good time with how much stuff you can do.

Would you say that people who are already rich have more of an advantage in Cryptopia?

Not necessarily. Because of the way that we're using the blockchain, there are still plenty of ways to play the game, even if you don't want to spend money. There's even a mode called Discovery mode, where you can go from any tile to any other and you don't have to pay the network fee. So you go around and look around at the different parts of the map and explore it for fun. So there are definitely options in case you don't want to spend anything right now. There's not really much of an advantage to having a lot of money.

If Cryptopia were an actual place and you are a new citizen, what's the first thing you would do?

I would probably just go and explore because there are so many different kinds of maps, different terrain, and different buildings. There are so many different places to go see and resources and all that stuff that it would be really fun just to go out and explore.

Could you kindly describe the Cryptopia team?

From what I've gathered, we all have a really good balance together. It's like one person will be doing one thing and another person doing another thing, and then those two different things combined together to make something even better. We can easily split up tasks between the team and everyone is able to cooperate and make everything work beautifully. So that's really great.

How can new citizens help make Cryptopia a better place?

Whenever you get in the game, just make sure that you do whichever thing you want to do. You don't have to do any specific thing, because there are so many different things. Also, if you ever see someone who's got questions or is confused, you could reach out to them and give them some advice. I'm sure every person who's new to a game appreciates advice from veterans.
